The FNHMA hosted our 5th annual conference from November 3rd to 5th this year in Montréal, Québec. With an attendance of over 350 health leaders, we were able to mutually “celebrate and share our inherent knowledge in health leadership and management” through a variety of workshops, activities and speaking engagements. Each day was welcomed with a sunrise ceremony held by Elder Otsitsakenra Patton from the Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Nation. Our participants could also choose to begin the day by taking a guided walk through the scenic venue of Old Montreal. We were also fortunate to have greetings from Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton from the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke. In our closing plenary, we were excited to receive an update from our speaker Stephanie O’Brien about the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and First Nations Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB)’s joint review regarding Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).
